The planned Accompanying program has been cancelled due to few
registrations. But discovering Stockholm is easy and please find our
recommended activities in the brochure ‘A
Brief Guide to Tourist Activities in Stockholm, May 2005’. You can also
contact Stockholm Tourist Centre by calling +46 8 508 285 08 or
visiting their website www.stockholmtown.com.
We particularly recommend
that you visit the Old Town (Gamla stan),
the Royal Palace and take a boat trip.
The Royal Palace
is used by the Swedish King as a place of work and still functions more or less
as it did 1,000 years ago. The Palace is situated in the Old Town, Stockholm´s
original city nucleus, and is built on the remains of its predecessor, Tre
Kronor, which was destroyed by fire in 1697. The palace is furnished in a style
that is the precursor of the Gustavian style for which Sweden is today famous.
The State Apartments, including the Hall of State, the Apartments of the
Chivalry Offices, the Treasury and the Gustav III Museum of Antiquities, are
all open to visitors.
We recommend a boat tour in
Stockholm to see the city from the water. Several tours is available, some in
conjunction with bus.
